On Tuesday it is the ninth anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance. She was just three years old when she vanished while on holiday with her parents in Portugal on 3 May 2007.
'Kate went back last month. She likes to stroll along the beach and relive the memories of them together,' a friend, who did not wish to be identified, told Tracey Kandohla at The Daily Mirror.
Despite a high-profile hunt, no trace of her has ever been found. Kate and Gerry McCann maintain hope that Maddie may still be alive and recently called for a new artist impression of their daughter for fear she may not be recognised.
